Boot Solenoid?

Just motored down to see my parents and stopped off to put the roof back up as rain looked imminent and I didn't fancy a shower. Got there no problem, had a good knees up and went out to put the roof down for the return journey as the sun was back out in full glory.:cool: Hit the boot release button, heard a click but the boot wouldn't open.:curse: It has been a bit dodgey recently. Tried again a few times and still no release. Now it doesn't sound as if anything's happening when the boot release is pressed.

Help. I saw there was a posting on this topic but for security reasons it has been taken off. Please can someone email me how to get into the boot. Also how much should a new solenoid cost and what solenoid do I need as a replacement?

Could be the gas strut (I had this happen) - end's up being a 2 man job to open the boot, one on the switch and the other with a bit of wire to lift the boot!.

Just a quick update. Got into the boot - thanks for the mail dodze.
It turned out that the striker plate/ arming switch for the boot release solenoid had moved and wasn't fully depressed with the boot shut. All sorted now.
