S2 Heater controls ?

Can anyone help me please !
On the heater controls there are two `sliders`.
How do you set these for cool air !
...and which slider sends air up to the screen and not down to the cabin ?
Sounds a daft question I know but the cars bl&&dy hot enough in the summer without not being able to sort out the heating !!!!

Put both sliders all the way to the left.
Put the fan on full.
Feel for air coming out of the windscreen vents.
Move the top slider to the right. If air starts or stops coming out of the windscreen vents, that's what that control does. Otherwise move the bottom control to the right. If air starts or stops going to the screen, that's what that one does.
If neither control affects air to the screen, something's gone wrong.
Once you've worked out which control directs air to the screen, you can guess that the other one controls the temperature. Put it one way and you get cooler air. Put it the other way and you get warmer air.
