I has having a dig around underneath yesterday checking for spring binding on the rear.
This turns out to be the case, which is no major drama, but I also found a small crack on a trailing arm.
I was a bit unsure so did a little digging. Sure enough I have a crack. Stange that the metal around it seems solid. I would be tempted to weld up the crack but as I tend to drive with a little enthusiasm :D I would rather know that I will not lose a rear wheel half way around a bend.
Does anyone know where I may get a pair of rear arms before SCH3. I seem to remember that someone refurbs them, possibly Adrian Venn. I will glue the phone to my ear tonmorrow.
Just to add to the frustration, I bet the sun will come out again now.

I guess it is a fatigue crack, that's how mine went. I would advise you to replace both of them. You could try contacting those people who got the factory's stock of spares for the S (tvrcarparts?) to see if they can sell you a pair. Adrian Venn would be the next obvious option. If you get suck, Tower View remanufactured mine using heavier gauge material and no doubt they would do similar for you.
By the way, the standard spring is a rising rate jobbie and it is normal and correct for the top third to be coil bound.

Peter, Can you let me know roughly how much you paid for the refurb. I can then take a view on replace/repair and may save a few phone calls.
I have removed both arms today and will get both rectified or replaced. Now will also be a good time to change the noisy rear wheel bearing.
By the way, springs are (were) non standard 350lb 8" springs on adjustable platforms.
Hopefully, if funds allow, I will be back
before SCH3.
