How much is that S in the window?
Discussion
Hi guys,
The time is Nigh! Sold my MR2 3 weeks ago (boy am I missing a sports car ). I am now looking for an S1 or S2 upto £4000 the question is how many go for that sort of money and in what sort of condition? I spotted one for 2995 but it had no MOT but apart from that it all looked like little winter jobs. Is this normal? Idealy I would like to get one that has a treated chassis, bodywork and machanicly sound but needed abit of tlc on the interior etc. Any input would be most appreciated.
Cheers

hi.....
there are lots of threads on buying an S (use the search facility) and try Colin's site www.tvrsseries.com .
I am sure everyone will agree that the thing to look for is a good chassis..... the bodywork being GPRS isn't really an issue, although you may get some crazing. With the time of the year you may struggle on your budget as when the sun shines the prices rise!!
However cheap cars come along.... just depends how handy you are with a spanner etc.... but if you buy a car with a knackered chassis it will cost a few thousand pounds to put right as the body will probably need to be taken off.
Try and get along to your local TVRCC meet or find someone local and have a chat with them.... I am sure someone will be only to happy to show you and take you out in their P and J.....
anyone in the Somerset area who can help out??
Good luck

To be honest, you will be hard pushed to get any reasonable S below 4k.
S1/2's are around between 4&5k with only winter jobs to do but whatever you do, get it up on a ramp and check the chassis out thoroughly

Cheers for the help guys. My old man run's a griff 500 so will go along with him to the next meet and have a chat. Silly question but does the S sound just as good as the others? Just that the only V6 one's I have heard have all had modded exhust systems
Most seem to have the S/S exaust and they make a lovely row, ask my neighbours.

Mines got a standard exhaust with the Cat still in play and it sounds great (if you can hear it over the rattly tappets
) Just need to raise the cash for something a bit louder now
Now where did I put my chequebook.
