Restoration is still on-going. Got the engine all connected up over the weekend - remade all the electrical connections, recovered all the wiring, made a new aluminium bracket for the alarm siren - new colant etc etc. Last night put some petrol in and it fired up first time. Excellent - thought I must have missed something but it started first go!
One small problem - the seal on the swirl tank at the bottom of the petrol tank started to drip - must be about the only item on the car that I have n't touched !!! It was n't leaking before and I cleaned all the tank out - repainted it, even laquered it - and vacuumed out the little flakes of rust from the inside ( the missus was n't happy with the Dyson for some reason after). And now - it leaks. Anyway have ordered a new one from an MGB - the locking ring looks identical so I'll give it a try.
Just need brakes finishing - does any-one know how the pistons in the master-cylinder come out - managed to remove the first one but the second just rotates and I've tried several times but to no avail.
Need countless other jobs to finish - refit interior, new seats, brakes, clutch needs bled, bonnet refitted, etc etc but at least it starts !!
