I have replaced the seals on my clutch master cylinder on the S2. Now I asked if I could get a new cylinder and do a top notch job, alas I couldnt one. The cylinder came off of a Lotus Cortina originally, that is according to the the spares list in Bridgend Motor Factors. Also the part No on the cylinder, Girling 64676310 is a casting number, anyway I am going to see if I can adjust the clutch pedal as there is an adjuster on the piston rod that connects to the pedal. the clutch is still engaging very low down on the pedal travel, anyone else had this problem?

There is an adjustable rod on the slave cylinder that pushes the clutch lever out. I guess this is the one you mean. It should be set so that the lever has no loose movement but also not pressing it, as this will put unnecessary pressure on the thrust bearing. Totally emptying the slave cylinder of old fluid {if you havn't already} should make a big differnce. As it does get very hot down there and old fluid is crap. Made a big difference on mine, even the gear selection when stationary is better.

I replaced the clutch and slave cyl. on S2 last year. The part no for the slave cyl. is Lucas / TRW PJH144 available from most motor factors

I have no problem with the slave cylinder, as a matter of fact the guy in Bridgend motor factors showed me a slave cylinder. He thought it was what I was after until I explained that the slave cylinder is attached near the gearbox and not to the pedal. Still, my clutch operation is feeling a lot more positive now so my trip to the Isle Of Wight this weekend will be trouble free.
