"go faster cable" on V8S

Does anybody know what parts bin TVR used for the throttle cable on the V8S. Broke mine today on a track day. Luckly it happened in the afternoon, So drove home with a bit of wire coming out of the bonnet tied onto a piece of conduit. Sound fimilar Darren!!!!!!!
Should have listened to you and got a new one when yours broke.

Not sure about the V8.... well done on geting home though!!!!! is the part listed on the Alternative parts list www.parkersteve.dsl.pipex.com/sparts.asp suitable for the V8 and V6??? and do you need to order the end fitting as well??

I really should get one in to put in the boot just in case... didn't mean to hijack the thread and if they are the same part then at least a win win situation!!

Assume it broke at the pedal end? Don't throw the old one away, it can be repaired to better than new.

I had one made by "Spot On" Cables in Reading. F1 and race car supplier. Infinately superior to the ford item and silky smooth operation.

I will dig out the number if I can find it, but I'm sure a search on the net will find them.

I think it was about £50, and they made it while I waited. Took about an hour. They had just about every cable end and fitting you could imagine. So it could be custom made for any S.

Might be handy to take the old unit, so they can copy the length etc.

Hi mickypee, Have you not got a spare and bring it with you ha ha or even that thing you drive!! when at work might have a spare (don't think the passengers might approve). But on the down side it means I can only push it out of the garage when you come over.I am going to try and fix it with s/steel wire as the outer case seems fine and then if it works I can carry a spare.If not I will have to bite the bullet and buy a new one. By the way I have sent you an e-mail today. See you Tuesday.

If it broke at the pedal end then you can reuse it, and done properly it will be better than a bought new one.

Yep broke at pedal, took it out tonight and am going to go to a ship's chandlers and see if the have the cable tomorrow. That should be fun trying to explain what a V8S is (at least I will have something to talk to them about fiberglass and resins etc)

I you can find a crew on cable nipple, fine toothed hacksaw and a couple of small drills you can make the old cable work better than a new replacement. More details in the morning ...

I carry a big bit of string in my bag. Out of the cockpit window to the wing, usually works. Passengers don't notice much, just tell them that's how it's meant to be and give them another G&T.

Mine broke last year about 1 inch form the pedal end.

Fixed it myself for nought but some time...took a while and is better aligned now so shouldn't happen again.

Got it fixed today, £2.20 for 4 meters of 1.5 s/steel and 4 small clamps.Fitted it and looks like it will work but bought enough to do a road side repair if needed. £48 to spend on other parts. Will test it out on mickypee tomorrow (with wife on standby to tow us home).
