Ok as promised here is the planned route - taking in the Hatfield Tunnel.
Again following the wishes of people from last year I have kept the motorway driving to a minimum.

Aim to meet at South Mims for 8:30 for an 9:00 departure.

Route:-

South Mims Service Station to Hatfield/Welwyn Garden City Junction 4 - A1M

Hatfield to Harpenden B653
Harpenden to Slip End A1081
Slip End to Markyate B4540
Markyate to Towcester A5
Towcester to Silverstone A43 - arrival 10:30ish

Please leave your name if you are intending to join this convoy - it would be helpful if you could email me your mobile number as well.... so we know to wait for any stragglers (luckily Wildfire is not coming this year )

If you choose to join the convoy en-route let us know where and we will give an ETO.

7.45 probably too early for me as I may have a passenger who has got to come from Suffolk to me and then I am an hour from South Mimms.... and I cant see him getting up at 5.30 in the morning!!!

Will let you know if anything changes and I can make it....

Steve is leaving that early absolutely necassary..........? That would be a very early start for me?? Its only about an hour from there isnt it??? I think if its a choice of taking 2hrs 15mins or taking 1 hr via the motorway I would prefer teh motorway I am afraid as I would have to leave my house about 6.15am

Have a think and you guys wanting to meet have a vote either 1 hr by motorway or 2hrs 15 mins the scenic route???

Thanks for doing this anyway Steve, might be that only the locals will be able to make it though?

Cheers

Mike

Its not just a case of scenic route....

last year there was about 20% of the convoy who wanted to keep motorway driving.....

And YES it takes in the Hatfield tunnel....

I can say that after running the route last night, we can move the leaving time from South Mimms to 9.00 am (the A5 is a lot faster then originally thought)

Hi Steve,
That sounds more like it, I would have been disappointed to miss the South Mimms convoy?? Mr Sheen, can you make it to the convoy........?

Sounds good Steve, count me in nothing like a 7.30am blast in the fresh air and M25 shouldnt be as busy on a Saturday morning?

Looking forward to it.

Oh nuts, you are not coming up my way.

I am not sure if I can get the girlfriend out of bed early enough to meet up with you at South Mimms, so I may have to make my own way up. I will let you know later if I can join in your fun.
