Hi Guys,
I have an S2, with the mechanical boot release, and the simple latch type boot strut, however this is now the simple ' bent beyond all recognition' boot latch, as a mate tried to shut it, without lifting it slightly first!
I saw at SCH that some of you have fitted gas lifts to the boot, any idea where I could get one, and what size etc to get. Have searched the net and found a few engineering companies but I have no idea which one would fit.....
I want one that will lift the boot fully, when the release lever is pulled, and also one that would dampen the close.
Any help is appreciated.

does anyone know where I can get a S3 gas strut then? Also, I presume it should fit, as the boot is basically the same, isn't it?
No, it was redesigned to take the gas strut. The boot lid has a lug for the strut, the hole is a different shape, the boot release is side-mounted (I assume to prevent the lid warping) and electrically operated.
I think it would involve considerable re-engineering (and loss of valuable boot space) to make it work.
Anyone done it?
