I give up, somebody please tell me..
Discussion
In amongst the cluster of warning lights on my S3 there appears to be one that consists of the letters M.I.L. Now I have never before seen such a light on any other car and have been trying to work out what the hell it stands for. Could it be to calm one down when driving like a tw*t and stand for Major Incident Looming? Or for when the car coughs splutters and stops in a town centre standing for Might Induce Laughter (from chavs in baseball caps)? Or possibly even to prevent getting into trouble by looking at pretty ladies in the street by warning that the Missis Is Looking? I think not. I must now (at the risk of looking foolish) admit that I aint got the foggiest. Will somebody please set the world to rights and enlighten me then at least I may have some idea what to do should it ever light up.
Thanx
Carl.

No I haven't seen it light up and don't feel quite so foolish for asking the question now as still nobody has said what the letters M.I.L actually stand for.... Come on guys somebody out there must know....
I don't know what it stands for, but it appears to be related to oil pressure. Every time I do an oil / filter change it comes on for the first 5sec after start up, in much the same way as the oil warning lights on every other car I have serviced.
And before anyone says anything, no I did not let the oil run out of the oil pump 5sec, not 5 min.

I know it is obvious, but you could try reading the S3 hand book ![]()
or if you have the S bible to hand, look up the wiring disgram for the S3, and trace the connection of the MIL light. This will give you a good idea of its function.
So what does it say ? 'Cos I can find no mention of it in either book .......

Hope you having seen it coming on!
