Hi, just seen a green S3c for sale here in Switzerland. It seems to have an odd combination of interior trim colours (grey seats and door panels, cream lower dash and centre console) and I wondered if this was standard in any way, or not..?

(unfortunately, as a new forum member I cannot upload an image as it's regarded as posting a link which is not allowed within the first 14 days..)

Thanks

There is no such thing as a standard. Every car could be ordered with customisations, and even the basic mechanical spec is inconsistent. I don't recall seeing any car with mixed interior trim like that and I imagine it would have been modified by a previous owner, but there's nothing stopping the original buyer from specifying that if they'd wanted.

Although this is a great place for technical questions etc. and searching history, have you joined our facebook page for general chitchat?

Changing the interior colour is an easy task, I have just changed a black trim/grey carpet S3 into a cream trim/maroon carpet with a few hours and cans of vinyl dye. I took out the seats, door cards, centre console, cleaned them carefully and sprayed them cream using 5 light coats and a final coat of laquer. I masked up the dash and sprayed that in situ,it came up really well. The floor carpets and rear deck carpets were removed, cleaned and sprayed, the rest were sprayed in the car, masking areas I didn't want painted. All in it cost around £500 and I think it looks really neat.
