Petrol gauge sender
Discussion
Does anybody know what 'original' car this comes from?
Have looked back over old posts but nobody seems to know. My fuel gauge started lowering despite me putting fuel in and now the needle just lays at the bottom like it cant be bothered to tell me !
I presume the senders gone, though will check the wiring as mentioned before.

£24 and TVR bit only I'm afraid.
I was going to get one, but decided to put some petrol in first.
(It was laid up for 6 months!)
Have a gander here for a part number.www.parkersteve.dsl.pipex.com/sparts.asp
Alternatively www.tvrcarparts.co.uk may be able to help.

bought one last week from tvrparts.com
i think it was about £30 with the seal and locking ring
took about 2 hrs to fit - hey presto no more paranoia at the thought of forgetting to fill up and getting stuck in an area with no mobile reception
hope your tank isn't rusty or you will have lots of fun fitting it
good tip - if the tabs snap off the locking ring when you try to take it off - CAREFULLY drill a 3mm hole in the ring and tap it round with a punch
worked a treat on mine
used red hermatite on the seal after clening the tank face carefully with emery cloth
leak free
everybody happy

it took me 2 hrs : )
I take my time
I hardly ever have to do things twice
an hour of that was cleaning all trace of rust around the sender using just emery cloth as i was too chicken to stick a cup brush on it and set fire to my car / garage / house / me
I also had to drain the tank which was 3/4 full when I started
you should have no problem with a stainless tank
mine had been in there for 13 yrs remember
good luck

Help, I have the old type of Fuel Sender unit in the tank, do you know if a later one will fit, what changes will I have to make to the wiring?
Or do you know of a fix for the old one?
I haven't tested the earth fully yet though, gauge works when wires are touched together.
Any help would be most welcome
