Gents,

advice on starter motors, Just purchase the below barn find a 1992 S3c

To say there is a little work to do on her is an understatement. Chassis is dead, body off , full respray etc etc.

First job is to get her started before the full body off strip so i need to replace the starter motor as the solenoid is duff and won't always spin the engine over.

There are a number of starters from a number of people, but which is best and reliable.

Has anyone purchased one lately that would recommend it

I was thinking about one of these. A little pricey but might help with consistency.

You may have noticed it is very quiet here on this Forum, like it or not nearly everyone now uses the TVR S Series Facebook group.

This should be the starter motor you need

I've fitted one of the 'hi torque' WOSP starters you linked (a number of years ago and not at that cost!) to my car, and whilst I think it's a great bit of kit, it's a bit of a faff to fit. Even with the adjustment available on the fixing collar there is very little space between the sump and the starter terminals.

At that price I wouldn't bother and would buy one of the originals like the one phillpot linked.

Check the voltage at the solenoid. On my S3c it was 9.5. After fitting a relay I measured 12-13 V and starting problems were gone.
