Calling Silverback

Hi Steve,
Yes, I replaced it last weekend, it cost £54 from our local supplier, kingswood autoparts. It's a sherpa van item.
Fitting was a doddle really, undo two bolts, mind you, you need 8 inch fingers. I have a one piece stainless steel exhaust on the car which makes things a bit awkward as there is no where to put your hands.
Anyway, a ratchet, long extension with wobbly end gets the bolts off.
You then need to unscrew the pipe that supplies the fluid, pop the rubber gaitor off from the cylinder and bracket, then pull it out. (Cue fluid going up your sleeve
)
Refitting is literally the reverse, it took about an hour to do and apart from bruised wrists not too bad a job, but would have been a lot easier if I could have separated the exhaust to get my hand in.
Not telling you to suck eggs here, but don't forget to give the rod a good clean, and don't forget to top the cylinder up. The rod is adjustable so may need a tweak, as mine does (haven't got round to it yet) but my symptoms were a gearbox that wouldn't go into first and reverse without virtually jumping on the gearstick.
The new slave has solved the problem, but I unearthed another one, the petrol tank is leaking
Hope that helps a bit.
Mike.

We had a natter on another thread about Barry and the short tunnels, if you are down this way give us a shout. Thanks for the info on the clutch, it was very helpful, I will get round to doing it soon. My 1st and reverse are a bit of a pain but I have a small list of things to do. Leather, wheels bonnet alignment etc etc, still winter is near so should give me plenty of time to get cracking, cheers
