ideas on hose please
Discussion
hi all
i need some new hose from plenum to air flow meter and from air flow meter to filter pipe on my v8
any ideas ?
it would help if all the spigots wern't all slighty different sizes and the airflow meter wasn't slightly out of line with the plenum inlet ! arrgh !
some of you must have done this job before - can you remember what you used and where you got it ?
on a slightly different topic and one that i'm sure must have been covered before (i'm newish here) what purpose does the plastic expansion tank serve ? with the preasure cap on the swirl tank and just a sealed cap on the expansion tank it seems surplus to requirements or am i missing something ?
thanks

Oh no here we go again!
You can get silicone hose in 5mm increments, and it will stretch up and down by more than that so you should have no trouble matching the different sizes. It comes in a variety of straight and corner sections, so if you can get the bits to more-or-less line up the silicone will do the rest. As far as I can remember the original position of the AFM misses the standard throttle body by quite a lot so you may need to use ordinary concertina hose for this bit.

If you have the caps on the Right Way Round (tm) then you need the header tank to maintain the pressure. There are plenty of places you could get another header tank from if you wanted, I went a different route and replaced both tanks with shiny aluminium ones made for me by AH Fabrications.
