Chassis repairs near Bershire/Hants
Discussion
Well it's nearly MOT time and just having a poke around under the car The chassis is not going to pass the test so I need to find someone to sort it out for me.
Can anyone recommend a place around the Berks Hants area (I'm in Bracknell) that can do a decent job?
Without having to sell a limb would be nice of course :)
Thanks
Colin

Hi Colin,
I had my chassis welded by Moore Racing in Milton Keynes. They did a great job and at an excellant price. I know others have used them too and have been pleased with the results.
I have also used The V8 Centre in High Wycombe for some additional welding after the shot blasting was done. Again excellent service and good price. I saw a Griffith while I was there that had some work done on the chassis and you couldn't tell afterward.
Hope that helps..Ralph
P.S. Body will hopefully go back on mine tomorrow

I took the body off and gave it to Moore Racing to weld. I then went mad and stripped the chassis to have it powdercoated. This then showed up a couple of minor holes where welds had failed which were fixed by The V8 Centre.
I'm planning on putting body back at 1030 tomorrow (fingers crossed). Very excited. You can see a pic on my profile.
I have really enjoyed doing all the work myself and have renewed loads of bits. Taking the body off isn't too hard as long as you are thorough and take lots of pics.
Don't underestimate the time and money side though. Once you start you find yourself saying 'while I'm doing this I may as well change......'. If you just do the odd evening and weekend you are looking at several months off the road. It has taken me 18 months but I did break my ankle in the summer which slowed me somewhat.
There are loads of people on here who have helped me and I have always managed to get an answer when I was stuck.

Just as a warning they do take great pleasure in walloping your P&J with a hammer to find the thin bits of chassis, it seems to be a matter of pride that they will find a weak point if at all possible .
After the initial shock I did decide this was the point of the exercise.
Also.
He will try and sell you that Cossie lump in his garage
Good Luck !
Just to update anyone that's interested. I've left the car with Richard Moore to sort out. I would have been happy to leave the S with either the V8 centre or Moore Racing.
The V8 centre sounds like a good deal if you want to know there is nothing you need to worry about on your chassis for the next 10+ years. But they are so busy at the moment (which can't be a bad thing) it would be the New Year before I got my baby back.
Both outriggers will need doing and Richard is cracking on with it this week. He's going to send me some photo's which I may post if I can bear to look at them.
