Wing mirror advice wanted
Discussion
Hi All,
I'm a new member. Have just bought my first non boring car. An S2 really nice condition however has a few very minor teething problems. I was wondering if anyone could provide advice?. When I bought the car the speedo was not working working properly; it is erratic. The previous owner said it may be the sender. I took it to a local garage who checked the sender said it was OK but said it may need calibrating. Does this sound about right and if so what is involved?. Also I need to replace the wing mirrors - I was thinking along the lines of replacing with something chrome - any sugegstions as to what to buy and from where?
Many Thanks,
Greg

Hi, welcome to the world of S ownership! If you haven't got a copy already, buy Steve Heaths "Bible" on the S Series. He has a web site, someone will come up with the link soon, if not just search for Steve Heath and TVR
When I got my early S2 the speedo was erratic, in that it didn't work until everything was warmed up. I fixed it by changing the sender. This is a pig of a job as the exhaust needs to come off to get access as it is fitted on the top of the gearbox; some say you can get to it by taking the tray out of the centre console and coming in from above - but I've not tried that. However, like most S problems it could well be dodgy wiring/connections and/or bad earthing. So check all the wiring out.
On the wing mirror front, I am changing mine to Audi TT mirrors but it is turning into a big job. Others have gone for MX5 mirrors. Its a bit of a challenge removing the mount of the existing mirror from the door to give you a smooth surface to work from.
Good Luck.
Mick
