New roof/hood?

I replaced the hood on my S1 earlier on this year, they are available from the Carhood Warehouse and cost about £400 plus £25 if you want a colour other than black.Alternatively if you want it fitted I think I was quoted £750 all in. These figures are only what I can remember as I don't have the car anymore but they are fairly accurate.
As far as fitting it is concrned there is a guide on here somewhere but if you are methodical,patient and don't rush the job then you can achieve a good result and save youself £350.

I too have been looking into a new hood as mine is rather tatty. I have uneartehd the following:
www.bas-international.com - supply rear section £195, supply material for targa panels £50., They receommended a trimmer in Godalming (but may have someone nearer you) to do the fitting.
www.carhood.com - suppy and fit rear section and recover targa panels £725. They claim it's a non-standard, a black hood would probably be cheaper.
www.hoodsgaloreuk.co.uk - Company in Leigh-on-Sea that I know a number of TVR owners have used and I was chatting to some people on Sunday from the Essex region that knew them and reckoned they were good. But I have since heard not so good reports about them. Quoted me £450 for hood and rear section supplied and fitted.
www.coburnhoods.co.uk/ - Another big quote, £850, and they said if I went for black it would be cheaper. Someone told me they used a company in Swindon and I think it might be them so quality should be okay.
Austec Racing recommended me to a company in Oxted but I have not investigated them yet. Christmas is getting in the way now. E-mail me through my profile if you want more details.

if you look at my car pic on profile you'll see I have a blue hood fitted.
I bought this from car hood warehouse, rear section and material for about £350.
I then got a local fitter to fit and he charged about another £250.
saved myself £150 and did not get dirty hands, also looks the bees knees.
One thing about the car hood rear is that it has a much larger window making it easier to see behind.

Just buy one... Mike, nagging is no problem at all, I'm always asking about something on here. 
They are strange cars, and tend to get under your skin a bit. Plus, something a bit unique about tvr's in general is the friendly group of co-conspirators that are always close at hand for advice.
Those who criticise TVR's generally haven't owned one, yes there are a few that have had lemons, but that's the same with every car.
Personally, the only things that have gone wrong with mine are
1. Breakdown due to radiator splitting - this was due to it being sat in a garage for 7 months, then silting up after I got it back on the road.
2. Gear crunching - new clutch slave sorted that out.
That's it, and I drive it day in day out, so much so that when I get into a normal
car it feels somewhat lacking.
