wow i hate insurers!

Its that time of year again when insurers get to assault me, laugh at me and bleed my bank dry. At least i get to have a good laugh at some of the prices quoted for my S3. Most humourous so far is £3408 a year with an excess of £1150. With restricted mileage of 5000 per year. The best so far is £1450 per year with an excess of £700. Still rediculous but £300 cheaper than what im paying at the mo. (high prices due to my age of course. Roll on mid 30s cant wait!!!!)

Has anyone else ever paid silly prices on insurance when they were younger?

Never, ever, ever, ever paid anywhere near those figures on any of my cars - including some Group 20 machines when I was in my twenties...

Premiums for the young 'uns have spiralled, for sure - just glad I'm in my thirties now

Some times i wonder whether I should get rid and buy a fiesta or some other dull cheap car but it would feel terrible compared to the cars Ive had. Just have to put up with it I guess

I pay about £800 a year (fully comp., protected NCD, 8k miles/year) with Tesco. I'm under 25, with 5 yrs NCD. Might be worth a try - they were much cheaper than all the others for me.

Im guessing this is your only car, so you cant get classic insurance?

In 1989, remember thats 16 years ago, I was 19 and paying £2300 a year for a pug 205 1.9 Gti turbo!!! quite steep at the time believe me????

I paid just over that for my (now your) S3 at 23 with 12000, fully comp.

Now pay around £1K for my Griff.

I paid around £1200 - £1300 at 23 on my S3, albeit parked in the centre of town and no garage.

I paid £450 for my S2 and £550 for my Griff both limited to 6000 miles.... and thats with a drink drive conviction

It seems that once you reach a point they don't increase the premiums any more. I got a quote for a Griff 500 recently and it wasn't much more than what I'm paying now.

If you can get classic car insurance (not your daily driver), very limited milage in my case, try Heritage in Birmingham as they were by far the cheapest for me,

I'm 30 with 3yrs NCB and an SP30 and got insured on my Chim 400 for £680 with 10k ltd miles. That was with MSM - 01279 870535.

Its actually a second car, I just cant find any classic car insurers to insure an under 25 yr old. I want to insure it as a classic with restricted mileage.

That's with performance insurance.

Might be a bit late replying on this one... I insure with Elephant, I was 26 at the time parking on the street in london with 0 years NCB, grand total of ~£1200 with £250 excess.

Adding named drivers can lover the risk profile of the policy if they are a lower risk than the main driver, its work trying a least
