Mileometer sticking

Hi,
just started using my V8S again after a while in the garage and I've noticed that the milo seems to get stuck when it gets to ****9.9
It frees itself after a while but then gets stuck again next time around.
Any ideas to solve this? It's a low mileage car so I could do with putting a few miles on it!
(I've tried using search to see if this has been raised before but no luck)

Mike, I cured the rev counter by taking it apart and cleaning it with compressed air and WD40. Broke the glass puting it back together though, a trip to a glazier for a new piece sorted that though. May seem a silly question, where does the mileometer pick up its signal? it may well be an electrical fault.
You need to persevere with the driving cure.You might need to go a bit faster.
I enquired on here about three weeks ago on another thread about removal of dash / speedometer. The advice was it can be removed but you needed to be a contortionist to do it, so I took it out for one last drive, anticipating being off the road while I removed it and sent it for repair, and guess what, it starteed working again about 3 miles from home.
Trust me it works eventually, and even if it doesn't you have fun trying and nobody knows you have used it.

Well being pretty hopeless I didn't fancy taking the speedo out (are you lot all good with spanners then?) so used it as another excuse to go for a blast and ...... bumpy road at speed sorted it. Haha.
Of course, I had to do another 10 miles then (shame) to check it would go around again...which it did (oh the suspense). So let's see how long that lasts.
Also had some serious rear-end action (in both senses!)when accelerating in 3rd in a straight line. Clear road so no problems. Seen others write about it on here but not happened to me before.

My Dash has started to flake and not sure what to do about it so I'll be interested to see how you get on.
Also I see you've got an Alfa 164 with shedloads of miles on it. Well I was going to sell the V8S but thought better of it and the car I got rid of instead was......an Alfa 164 with shedloads of miles on it (well 137,000, just run in by your standards!). We're not related are we!
The Alfa was a great car which I'd known since new as it was my old boss's company car and still ran beautifully. Needed a bit of work for the MOT which I didn't want to do but literally couldn't give it away for nothing and ended up very reluctantly scrapping it. Damn shame. Wish I'd known about Pistonheads then as there would have been loads of useable bits on it.
Just waiting for the milo to stick again now so I can justify another afternoon driving around Yorkshire.

The dash is one of those jobs I'm REALLYnot looking forward to. But It looks dreadful so has to be done. It's a shame the people who re-covered it put it back in the wrong way otherwise it would be reasonably straightforward. As it is the screen has to come out and knowing my luck lately, will smash.
Have a good blat around, all in the interests of maintaining a fully working speedo, obviously! - and yes, the 164 is a corker, we obviously share impeccable tastes.
