door locks failing and glove compartment latch
Discussion
Having trouble locking and more to the point unlocking both the NS and OS door, so very concerned that I could easily lock myself out and be unable to re-gain entry. Have the door trims off and have lubricated everything in sight to no avail (lot of grease everywhere in any case), have even oiled around the lock barrel from the outer door handles. What am I missing?
Regarding the glove compartment the latch striker looks home made. I have a key which did not fit the barrel but corrected this by filling out groves in the key but cannot see how the mechanism works. If you close the lid the stiker appears to latch between two rollers located in the dash above the lid and to release I am just pulling the lid down. So I cannot see what the key does, only that it rotates the stiker when the lid is open but cannot see it can do anything when the lid is closed. I'm stumped on this one.

My V8S had the same problem with the door lock on the passenger side after removing the door interior and playing with the lock system I noticed that when I lifted the handle to open the door and then let go the mechanisum would not 'fall' far enough the allow the lock part of the mechanisum to move passed it and the lock would jam. - I hope this makes sence. - It will jam when unlocking and locking, but if move the door handle mechanisum and lube it after a while it all starts to work.
My drivers door was doing the same, key would not turn to lock/unlock. Sometimes it would take 3 or 4 attempts to shut the door. One time it did lock me out in the rain. Had to lean in from the passenger side to open it (not easy when 6ft 2 and a few lbs overweight - okay a few stone). In the end I found a can of WD40 that still had its extension straw thing, put the window down and sprayed all over the lock mechanism. Not had a problem since.
