Anything I Should Check?
Discussion
Hello All!
I'm collecting my new S3 from Manchester tomorrow and driving it back to Newcastle. Yes, I know I'm tempting fate, but it's the fisrt drive I'm having in 12 months!
I'm going to do a lights and levels on it before I set off, and the AA cover is topped up, and the (non-TVR) dealer has 'serviced' it for us, so what would be the neccessaries?

Gloves, fleece and scarf
Seriously, if you've not driven in 12 months, take it steady. You're in no hurry and it could be a little slippery out there. I'm sure the car is ok, (well, I hope so
) but best ease yourself gently into driving again, easy to get caught out with a light RWD car on slippery roads..

for the love of god don't press the loud pedal to the floor or the damn thing will snap
otherwise, roof down, windows down, heater on and hey-ho for the open road...I hope you take the M6 then have a blast across the A69 then the military road

I wonder if something is missaligned? I'm surprised that a diff cradle has snapped twice in 3 and a half years..
I know you gave it some serious beans, but even so..![]()
mechanical sympathy is the name of the game with me, I cain it but I don't thrash it...I haven't been able to get underneath it to have a look and frankly I think i'll wait until it gets to have the diff bracket mounts done until I do..
I know I have a rep for driving hard but twice in 3 1/2 years does seem odd...

Exactly.. Nothing wrong with driving it hard, but I am surpirsed that it seems to be the same thing again. The component should take the torque no matter how enthusiastically it was applied.. At least its an inexpensive fix..
