The problem is that I can't get the rear lights to work, but all the others do. The bulbs are okay. It seems strange as it is a double filament bulb with the brake light. The brake lights are working so i think it can only be an electrical supply/broken wire that is causing the problem. I have tried testing the wires, but my knowledge of things electrical is not that good, so my last resort was going to be a auto electrician, unless anyone can advise me.
Okay, my first question is, with the ignition OFF do the side lamps work (front)? If the answer is yes, does the number plate light work? If you have side lamps but no number plate light or rear lights then you should check (according to my wiring diagram) fuse R which should be a 7.5 amp item. That is the fuse for both rear and number plate light, give that a go let me know how ya get on.

Carl, Thanks for the suggestion. I checked the fuses and found that it had blown. The next problem is that when i replaced it, it immediately blew again. The one for the other set of lights had also gone, but when that was replaced it was fine and is now working. This leads me to think that it may be the bulb holder strip.
I initially had problems with a few of the lights not working on the left hand rear and upon inspection the bulb holder looked corroded and old, so i replaced it with a new one. This solved the problem of the other lights not working, but has caused the problem with this one. I also swapped the bulb holders over yesterday and i am sure this is when the other fuse went.
I have come to the conclusion that either the bulb holder is defective, or i may have damaged it when soldering on the extra earthing wires. I have ordered another one from Ford, which i will collect in the morning and try that, as it is cheaper than paying someone to look at it. If it isn't that i am completely stumped.

Should be fairly easy to fault find by elimination (assuming you do not have a multimeter) and I suggest having a few sacrificial fuses to hand.
Remove the connector blocks from both lighting strips.
Turn lights on - does fuse blow ?
If no, with bulbs removed, reconnect lighting strips one at a time turning lights on after each strip is replaced.
Does fuse blow with no bulbs in place ?
If no, replace rear bulbs one at a time and turn lights on after each bulb is replaced.
The point at which the fuse blows will show where the problem / short circuit is..ie wiring from stalk to rear connector or strip or bulb holder..
