Allo all.
One of the mechanics at my place has diagnosed 1st and 2nd gear synchromesh is causing the noise when I'm pulling away from a standstill. New gearbox or quick fix???
You can take the gearbox out and get the syncros fixed which is what I did rather than simply buying a replacement box. Cost me about 200 quid plus all the arsing about. There's no quick fix like pouring some snake oil in it though.
Maybe crossed wires. Synchromesh problems cause a graunching noise when engaging gear, they don't cause grinding noises under acceleration. That sounds more like worn gears and/or bearings, which would probably require a full rebuild.
Great
Thanks lads!
