Chassis anybody
Discussion
As I said it twas only out of interest, as the late V8S chassis's (is that a word?
) are quite rare
. If the S was staying long term then I would buy a spare and put it on the garage rafters in case I dented it
. Anyway the S is off soon, to make way for a cerb, which may or may not be available in a couple of weeks
. That reminds me I need to clean the S before I put it up for sale
. Best bit is the misses says I can overlap the cars i.e. the S doesn't need to go first
.
Back on topic, how much are you looking for it, as a couple of years ago the factory were offering a new chassis for less than £2.5K, which I though was not unreasonable, not sure how much Tvrparts are looking for now though as they hold the jigs.

Not sure on price, the general idea was to supply on an exchange deal thereby keeping the price down and do it all over again. Just wanted to see if there was any interest as it comes back from the sandblasters next week.

A lucky man Harry. I'd be checking your emails though for intercepts when you put the add up. How old is Tim now??
Didn't think you'd be intersted ina V8S, thought u had Tim L's old griff
. My Tim is the youngest at nearly 17, although the tallest at around 6'5"
, he's saving and checking out max muppet type cars

what's the difference between the s3 and v8s chassis please ?
Cross bracing under engine is the most obvious one, I know S4's are suppose to be the same but I have seen S4's with S3 chassis. Wider track is another but without parking them side by side I'd think you'd struggle to spot (apart for X bracing).

Engine mounting brackets welded in different position, Steve seems to think that there is no difference other than that.
Anyway there is loads more bracing that could be carried out at very little cost.
You've got to watch where you put the extra bracing if you do that Derek .. the S transmission tunnel isn't straight sided (at least it isn't on the V8 I have) .. parts of it go slightly through the box made by the chassis .. it's hard to explain without seeing it but if you add extra bracing in the wrong area you'd not get the body to fit..
I wanted to alloy panel my chassis centre box section but when I looked at how the fibreglass fitted around and through it I realised it was a complete non-starter.

Point taken Joo, perhaps loads more bracing is an overstatement but there is apparantly room for significant improvement. I'll leave it to Steve H to decide options
