O.K. guys - I am completely new to the amazing world of TVR. I am used to mercedes, saab etc but after driving an S3C today I am feeling younger and wilder.
What I want to know is - is £7995 a lot for a reasonable example ( supplied by Steve Reid in Cheshire and what am I letting myself in for - runninng costs etc, it has a new SS exhaust, what looks like a bit if rust on the visable chassis and an orange looking tank which sounds solid on bashing it. Any advice greatly welcome Miles per Gallon round town - Insurance suggestions etc - Thanks Mark - ready to join a club and boogie

Hi Mark, welcome to the "club". Can I make a gentle suggestion, you may want to search through some of our recent post and members profiles/cars.
Values is being discussed only two threads down! I think if you like the car, it's in a colour/trim you like then buy it.
I think you'll find Steve is an enthusiast with a very nice grantura and posts on here!
Running cost depend on what goes wrong (ie breaks)! So services could be cheap or expensive , the car is 10 years old! See various members profiles for other histories. His cars are usually very fairly priced - I missed out on one and bought my current car privately for about a grand less than he was advertsing one for but had to go to cumbria to get it and no had warranty. Admittedly prices are slipping but this still does not sound too dear.........I dont't think you will regret it.
Mark, in November I sold my nice new reliable Puma to buy a Ford Escort (daily hack) and an S3c... and haven't regreted it for a minute!
The TVR brings a smile to my face every time I drive it, and although it's not perfect, I love it all the same - but with time and money I can fix the little cosmetic bits and pieces.
No matter where you live, I'm sure someone will be a ble to recommend a specialist to take the car too, when it needs some work (unless you do it yourself) and the TVRCC and the Pistonheads people that I've met have all been friendly and a top laugh!
PH has a wealth of advice to give, so don't be afraid to ask! - bound to be someone who's been there, done that.
Overall though, as long as you don't expect perfection and 100% reliability, you'll be reqrded with a fantastic driving experience, a fantastic exhaust note, and not so much as entry to a club - more a way of life!
In short... do it!
EDIT - oh yeah, insurance. I pay £320 for 5000 miles as a second car, under a classic car policy with Mannings. Age 25, full NCB, no accidents or convictions (touch wood).
