Help - Please before I axe murder the S
Discussion
I really hope that someone out there can help me, took the S out for a blast last night, pulled up to junction dipped the clutch and the engine dies and won't restart.
Check the obvious HT leads etc and still nothing, she turns over but won't fire up. Walk it down to work and have a coffee while I ponder the problem. Half an hour later still nothing, and I have no tools and I've let the recovery cover expire (silly boy). Call for help.
Tools and fuel arrive after an hour, add fuel still nothing (Must get a new sender)check supply to fuel pump and nothing, discover that 15 amp fuse has blown (Injection/Cooling Fan)replace and we get power for a split second when you turn on the ignition and then nothing, she still won't fire.
Much head scratching later decide it must be the Immobiliser that has died, 20 mins later and its on the pavement with the ignition reonected, fires first time, result!!
Drive home, on way home drop down and go to accelerate hard in second and same again just dies with ignition lights on. Same fuse gone again, replace and drive home very gentley, however last summers lummpy running returns worse than ever, but I think this must be the TP as the fault comes and goes and suspect it is unrelated but not 100% sure.
I have checked all the obvious inputs (air flow, TP, fuel temp, collant temp) to the ECU and all give expected results.
I have scanned the historical threads and people have similar probs but not the same, I'm now fresh out of ideas, so would really appreciate any help any of you could give me. I darn't go out as I have run out of 15 amp fuese until I get to halfrauds tomorrow
Cheers

Not sure what the problem is but the fact you have a fuse blowing must be related. Sounds like some kind of electrical short or earth problem.
Maybe there is a problem with fan that is causing the fuse to blow which then is cutting the ignition circuit.
Sorry nothing more concrete than idle speculation at the moment.
If you've not got the time or experience to dig through the wiring it may be easier/cheaper to get a good auto/electrician to look at it.

Sorry cannot comment on the ignition problem but as to the intermittent rough running and idle problem; if this has been an ongoing intermittent thing, suggest you check the multi plug that the TP wiring runs through which should be situated at the offside of the engine nicely hidden under the ignition coil. Mine has a little problem which appears to be throttle pot related and has shown up twice with 6 months in between. I just separate the plug, squirt with WD40 then plug and unplug a couple of times, hey presto, job done. I suppose I could apply something better than WD but 5 mins once every 6 months doesnt bother me.
Hope that helps,
Carl.
p.s. Couldnt hurt to do the same with the plug on the TP itself just to clean the contacts a little.

Spivy you're a star, diagnosis spot on, four wires melted and arcing to earth, 10 mins with the stanley knife and a roll of insulting tape and the S has runs as well in 12 months. Now all I have to do is make good this and all the other nasty wireing things I have messed with. Thanks guys.
