Overheated & Fan Failed..

Thought today would be a good treat to take the S1 out for a spin in the glorious sun, However got about 5 miles from home & Temp in red with boiling water pooring from overflow with no fan.

Nursed home & same again.

Have looked at everything, switched the relay, checked fuse, disconnected fan & Direct wired to battery (Which worked), Even tried bridging the otter switch (which didn't work)

I have got power at the wires to the Otter Switch but the fan refuses to cut in when running to temp.

Is it time to replace the Otter or do i have other problems? I have considered an overide switch, but obviously don't want to rely on this a my cooling option.

If you've bridged the otter switch and the fans still don't work, the otter switch isn't the problem. From those symptoms I'd guess either a duff relay, or a blown fuse.

Following on from the checks you've done already, I would start by checking the two-pin connector on the wire from the fan into the loom. The connector is between the radiator and the front centre of the chassis, where it gets mucky.

Came home from work today with new Relay, Fuses, Wire & Switches ready to tackle through the problem, Rechecked all connections with Tester to ensure getting power, Renewed connections between Fan & Loom, but still no good, Pulled all fuses & replaced, still no good, Managed to blow the Main Dash Fuse, Replaced & Tested power to Fan again & it worked.

Obviously one of those usual TVR pull it all apart & put it back together agan things.
So next job, reisulate all those wires again & clean up.
