Moving to V8s

Hi I would like some advice on the V8s I own a TVR S3C which is now for sale, and want to get a V8s. What is the difference to the S3 in overall performance. I have not test driven one yet. What are the running costs like? What should I look out for re engines? I am aware of all the other trouble but what can be specific to the 4.0 V8. Is high millage a concern? Any tips and thoughts welcomed.

I went from an S2 to a V8S, the running costs are a little more but not considerably, petrol about a thrid more, insurance around the same, you do get a bigger grin though.....!!! This is not including upgrades which you would want to do on the S3 also, I would say general running costs are just a little bit higher than an S3.

As far as I know there arent any 'known' issues with the engine, its fairly bullit proof, just the usual checks would suffice, history and receipts, is of course as in the S3 paramount. If you are looking for a V8S, you couldnt get much better than Harrys for the money. Have a look in the classifieds, its probably the most powerful 4 ltr V8 Tvr there is, around 270 bhp! well worth a look.

Believe me you wont be disappointed, if you are anywhere near Gatwick give me a shout and ill take you out in mine so you get a taste! good luck in your search.

Servicing on the V8 can be more costly depending where you go as opposed to the V6.

I know Peninsula used to charge about £100 for the V8 for a 12,000 service.

Hi aquareqia (that's hard to pronounce!),

just to add my twopennorth. Had no mechanical problems whatsoever with mine over many years now(Occasionally bits drop off though). Very reliable and massive fun. Overall costs are pretty low considering servicing is reasonable and depreciation is now very low. How else can you get this much fun for the money?

And wow Harry's does look good doesn't it? Can I swap it for mine!
