Cooling system electric water pump?

First run out in hot day for a while and car got very hot!!!
The temp guage rose and fell 10 deg either way when conering!!!!
And got a funny metallic spining noise from engine somewhere.

So ordered a new fan from Demon Tweaks (16" Pacet with fitting kit), have
added rad flush and gonna drain system out in a day or so.

Questions are, is the noise likely to be a failing water pump?

If so how much of a drama is fitting a new one?
Has anybody fitted an electric pump yet?

I intend to remove the rad to fit fan and flush it out.

Any help or advice would be nice.

Not a good idea. Mechanical pumps are cheap, reliable and effective. Currently I don't know of any EWPs that achieve all three of these. There are plenty of aftermarket ones that struggle to meet even one of them.
