S Series at Le Mans......

Hello chaps,
Just a quick post to say hi to the two S series owners that I bumped into at Le Mans. Typically, not until the moment I was leaving on the Sunday afternoon....... Camped in Maison Blanche, one metallic blue, one red (S2's?). I was the grinning idiot in the dusty white S3......

and Hi to all S's in Houx, I spotted at least three as well as mine. Also Hi to Minimax, it was nice to chat to you on the ferry. I'm only sorry I was so knackered after the late night on Sunday and the drive up through all the traffic that I wasn't a bit more coherent.

We was there camping in Houx Annex.
I see loads more this year than last year, ones I can remember are a blue one parked up on the way to the track in Houx and met a chap in Houx Annex in a V8 the same color as mine.
I do love this car, drove to work in it monday tuesday, down to le mans in torrential rain wednesday. Sat in torrential rain wednesday night, then the heat till sunday. Drove into and stayed in the loir vally sunday night and drove home yesterday. Back in the car today for the hour commute to work.
Yeah this car is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo unreliable. I did actually see a few jap cars overheat as we they were queuing to get in the main entrance. My car performed perfectly!!!! And I just loved the drive through that fairly long tunnel, second gear up to the limit then off for the pops and bangs, then back on it.......... I could do that all day.
Also a big thanks the medical crews who stitched up my finger after I tried to chop it off with a knife while packing up. It was like watching a pit crew in action when they fixed me up haha.

Spotted several over the weekend:

- White S1 or S2 pitched up in Bleu Nord car park - behind the blue Tamora
- White V8S spotted Le Mans town centre near the cathedral
- Cooper Green V8S on the run back to Calais (can't remember the road I was on!)

Great weekend and some fantastic cars on show!

Sounds like me from the look of your profile pic.. I was in houx and there were a few other Ss around, but the exact details of much of that weekend are somewhat hazy..

I didn't spot any other S's over the weekend
Saying that I was in the back end of beyond (Beasejour campsite)

I was definately the lone S in the field! Met loads of TVR owners though who all came over to say hi, there were Chims, Griffs and a Tuscan

1. Rear view mirror fell off (again) - I think the heat had dried out the self adhesive pad!
2. Got caught in the mother of all thunderstorms at about 6pm Sunday. By the time we'd stopped, emptied the boot, got the roof panels out and on, then reloaded boot we were soaked, the kit in the boot was soaked and there were puddles in the footwells! Did a good job of cleaning the dust of the car though

You was on your own and I was with a mate. I saw you driving out behind me a short while later?

Did anybody drive down on wednesday, blimey the rain was bad that day. Everything I had got soaked trying to put the tent up. All part of the fun though.
As for the dust, I still havent cleaned it all off yet. I wondered if I could collect it all somehow and put it on ebay

Sounds like me.. Was just arriving then IIRC.. I'd managed to get to within 100 yards of the enterance of Houx then was diverted out and back in past the Annex. Slightly annoyed as was in need of a cold beer after a long and dusty drive..

Hi Matt,that's my 1st spotted on the forum and in person too! I hope I was coherent when we spoke 'cos I had a bit of a headache in the morning ....
It was quite an interesting experience driving down in convoy,obviously the support vehicle (van) was the fastest followed by Gordon's Griffith 500,followed 1/2mile down the road by Poe (Edgar)S3. Never mind,lots of fun and faultless motoring. Happy days in your Chim.

Well I wouldn't go so far as to say you were coherent, to be honest I was surprised you were still standing.....well done that man; obviously enjoying the true Le Mans experience!!

Nice to know old Edgar is being looked after - oddly that was my name for him as well.

As promised I will dig out the old photo's at the weekend and ping them across.

For me, the boot release switch fell off.
Shame about the thunderstorm - Chris and I baked in the afternoon sun till we got to Caen!

I left on the Sunday evening and hit the rain 30 mins up the road, suddenly felt a wet sensation on my leg (and no I am not old and incontinent) I had found a new and previously unknown leak, don't blame the old girl it was bucketing down!
Managed to get the 1am ferry from Calais

I couldnt believe how long it took us to get into the circuit! It was our first time there on a wednesday and I thought the traffic wouldnt be a problem and we could go through the main gate, instead of round the back of the town. We give up in the end but it was nice being asked for assitance buy a jap driver that had overheated!

I missed the bloody ferry going over there AND coming back!!!
The ferry companys really dont seem to give a toss though and will stick you on the next one with no extra charge. Quite refreshing really!
