Another round of questions

Hello Gang,

After putting the radiator back in the car, it is all going smoothly and running great, not even overheating a tad (which is surprising knowing my mechanical skillz).
Anyway, going in and out of the car, the inside driver door handle is not opening the door anymore and I dont have taken the panel off yet but I strongly suspect the cable has broken. The door opens fine from the outside...
Question is, where do I get that cable? which car does it come from?

Next thing, I have an old wooden steering wheel and the tvr logo in the middle is (as I found out recently) another horn button. But there is no mechanism inside, no spring, no contactor... where can I source the missing parts or the whole component?

On mine the door lock cable was a bit of solid wire inside a tube. I replaced it with a piece of thick fencing wire. IIRC the bent end at the lock had fractured.

If youre lucky it could have just popped off the link on lock mechanism.

hmmm, there is a horn push button so it could be used, guess I'll have to source a spring and create some connectors.
Another thing, the other day I "pushed" the car a little bit from a red light, 1st gear, then 2nd and when releaseing the clutch, the back of the car went down and something touched the road
I am not sure that is a normal behaviour... Does that mean my suspension is on the way out ?

The rear end does tend to squat under acceleration, especially with standard spring rates/shocks.
Quite possible that the springs have compacted and the ride height is too low?

ok thanks for the info, is there a way to check that and possibly fix it without having to change anything? Bit tight money-wise nowadays and would prefer not to enrage the wife

Park on some flat surface and measure the height under the main (rectangular) chassis rails to ground.
Even if you cant afford to change the shocks, springs are not expensive. (just a b######r to change....)

any ideas what springs I need?
Second hand from the scrapyard would be a good idea, or even ebay...
Let me know what kind of car would work... (car it is coming from, not a silly part number please )

springs are tvr specific - £28.88 each - from tvr carparts - + vat and p&p of course.

the height between the rectangular section of the chassis and the road is 15.5cm
is that high enough?

That's perfect if its the same both ends you don't have a problem with ride height. I have a couple of new 400 lb. rated springs for the S going cheap if anyone interested.Fine for front end.
