I know it's not an S, but I know from when I had mine that this is probably the most technically skilled and mechanically minded bit of eth site. Mostly through necessity...
My old man's got a z3 2.8 and on one of the twin exhaust exits, there is a butterfly valve that does not move/open/close with varying revs. It seems stuck in 'half open'. Looks like there might be a vacuum tube or something coming off it, but it's hard to see.
Is this some kind of noise adjuster? Should it move? What is it?
Behind the rear box, but only on one of the exits, not both.
Just had a reply on the BMW bit - chap reckons it might be to create the right backpressure. 2.8s should hav ecome with single exhausts, but teh marketing bod couldn't cope with trying to sell their second best car without a twin exhaust.
Any ideas?
