A tale of caution

Having just fitted my new radiator, (recored and tested then painted)
The car has been running fine, a good blast to Hunstanton and back from Bury St Edmunds and the car never over heated one bit. It was a fast blast too.
Got the car out today and was on the A14 to attend a meet when the needle shot up into the red with a smell of anti freeze!
I pulled over quick and popped the bonnet. Water everywhere and at first glance comming from the top right hand hose.
Think again, one of the two clips that hold the otter relay in place had popped off, letting 4 litres of water out. I managed to temp fix with a bit of wire and fresh water, limped to the meet and sorted out a repair. Two tie wraps later the housing is nice and tight without a sign of a leak.
Has this happened to anybody else? it seemed that the new rad was all nice and painted so the clip didn't grip it tight. The tie wrap has made it nice and secure. Any other ideas for a more permanent fix?
Its running fine at the mo and survived a blast back fine.

Bury St Edmunds eh! Well the site of many a good time when I was younger. Sadly live down in the west country but often think about poping up with the S for the weekend to see friends. The only trouble is I cant get the wife and child seat in the car, well not unless I give up my seat but that aint gonna happen.
