s3 stiff gearbox

I got stuck in some bad traffic on the M25 in pouring rain on Sunday (not ideal...) and ever since i've found it hard to change gears, especially when starting up. It seems to get easier however after having driven a bit. Can anyone tell me what's the matter and what i should do about it?

Hmmm Gearbox a bit stiff. If you are lucky it could just warrent a change of gearbox oil, but I suspect not. Probably a worn gearbox that just eases with use and as the engine gets warm, a new one will be coming soon I think.

or possibly the clutch sticking?

or clutch hydraulics. Check fluid level.

If it's any consolation the box on my v8s is appalling,especially from 3rd to 4th but that's a generic thing as far as I'm aware, bloody awful thing.

My S3c used to be bad at engaging reverse, so had to be slotted into first prior to revers, it was ok then.

Heavy Traffic = much usage of clutch

Worn seals + much usage of clutch = loss of fluid

Firstly check clutch fluid level, it sound like worn master and or slave cylinder seals.

Easy enough to replace, just a bu99er to find these days.

Change the hydraulic fluid, it worked on mine, the local specialist recommended changing it once a year due to the close proximity of the slave cylinder to the hot exhaust.
