I'm about to splash-out on my first S, but as I've got a newish baby who will dearly love to go for drive with daddy... Has anybody had any experience of fitting a carseat (the forward facing type) to an S passenger seat?

Thanks

hmm - no experience myself - and hopefully no first hand experience for some time yet - maybe the hand experience is something to do with not having kids anyway, I am going off thread

try doing a search under the S forum. I am sur ethere was some talk about this recently (might be with JustinS who sold his cos of new baby). Seem to remember something about having to fit them back to front........

I vaguely recall a thread recently about carseats. I think the conclusion was that the could be fitted forward facing but not reverse due to the S's short seatbelt length. Now I`m thinking about it, some seats wouldnt fit forward facing either.

I've taken my 15 month old daughter out in my S a few times, just using a standard forward facing car seat without any problems. I know that different models of seats fit in different cars in different ways, which is why they say you should always try the seat in the car before you buy it, but you shouldn't have any problems with the general principle of the baby seat in the car.

My daughter seems to enjoy travelling in the S, and even managed to take a nap once when we were motoring with the roof down - maybe that's just a reflection on my relaxing driving style!

thanks guys.

I've seen seats advertised for cars with shorter seatbelts so I'll go for one of those.

I haven't changed my seatbelts, so I'm not convinced that you'd have a problem there (except maybe for a rear facing seat as these do need more belt - haven't tried the rear facing seat in mine yet). You'll probably end up paying over the odds if you have to get a 'specialist' seat.

Your best bet is probably to find a Mothercare, ToysRUs etc. on a retail park (i.e. where you can park outside the shop) and then get them to try various seats in the car for you to see which fits (they should all offer this service).

Having been through this the rear facing seat won't fit as the belts are too short but the front facing seat we bought does fit ok. Like everyone says though, you need to get your car down to m'care to have a try as you may get lucky with a rear facer. I have to say though that I'd be a bit concerned with the noise level of my car with a very young baby. Even with my 15 month old daughter I'd be wary of going much above 60 or having her in the car for very long because of the noise levels.

Mark
