Hi again, I disconnected the Idle control valve, engine stopped and would not start until reconnected. Removed plug from T/P, SPEED DROPPED TO 1500RPM then rose gradually.
Any ideas?

When I disconnected the TP on mine, the Idle stabilised at 800-900rpm.The fact that yours is not running as would be expected in "safe Mode" would lead me to look elsewhere, I would be looking for an air leak into the inlet system initially.

Tend to agree - disconnecting the ISCV puts it into "safe mode" so that the ECU disregards the sensor signals and runs on basic settings. If it won't run like that, then there's something else wrong with the basic engine setup - a fuelling problem, or an air leak most likely. Could also be air flow meters, etc.

Can you borrow a vaccuum gauge? Magic tool - allows basic diagnostics if connected to the plenum chamber.

Hi Again, I am very much drawn toward the air leak philosophy, could one of those mobile tuning firms be the way to go in order to isolate an issue? Thanks to you all once again for your help.

Mobile tuning firms (like garages) can be a bit variable - they tend to be one-man franchises so it depends on how good the man is at using his kit.

I tried a local one years ago, when all else failed, and he was absolutely brilliant - he diagnosed some obscure fault in no time. I had to buy a part, fitted it and he came back and optimised the tuning and still only charged me as one "visit".

Hi, I have stripped, cleaned and rebuilt using new gaskets the intake system and what a difference !! Whilst at it I adjusted the tappets (they go tight) and now I see what all the fuss about TVR performance is all about !! Many thanks to you all for your advice.
