Virtually an FAQ I know, but whats the latest thinking on V8S tyres? Having just put a couple of thousand miles of hard hooning onto my P6000s I've decided they've got to go; am totally fed up with the lack of traction and what seems to me to be poor handling. Not been happy with these from day 1 and although a fair bit of tread left, they are going as I really don't want to drive them again over the winter..
SO2s were amazing on the S3C, but I cannot find anyone that has any left. So, any suggestions folks?

Just 'scrapped' perfectly good 'no name' tyres for Bridgestone RE720's. (about 350 miles ago) The no names were OK in the dry but lethal in the wet - like driving on ice ! ... so no much of a challange to be better for the RE720's.
However so far very pleased with the new tyres. Still scrubbing in so ultimate road holding not yet really 'tested', but the handling of the car has improved tremendously. Comfort is better and accuracy for steering and general grip get 'good marks'. Never drove a Tiv with So3's so no comprison but RE's seem well suited - for my style of driving - fun but not on the limit !
Had to wait about two months, apparently stocks were all sold, but my 'local' got them in about 4 weeks - but should be available ex-stock again. Price fitted etc. £69 a corner - not too bad - but as I said I used 'a local' and was not interested in scouring the net.
Trust this helps - grand weather for hood down at the moment !

Forgot to mention still running 15" wheels - I do not like the look of the present craze to squeeze 18" or more under a 'classic car' shape. I wanted to keep 60 profile as well - again looks and exhaust peservation without jacking up the suspension to look like a 4 wheel drive !!

I inherited P6000 on the front of my Chim and following advice from Gugi fitted SP9000 ZR tyres all round: very good and not big bucks, it would be around £329 for set for a V8S
I have always found the RE720's to be very good, I run these on the fronts as I have larger 16" wheels on the back with big 245/45 x 16 for the extra grip....?! FYI they are Falken GRB K451's which cam highly receommended and I can confirm they are excellent plus are cheaper than Bridgestones?
