Perfect TVR Day

Lokked out the window this morning and had the choice of sitting in the office gazing out at the sunshine cursing or sorting out a couple of little jobs a distance away that I'd been putting off for a while. Bit of a no-brainer so.... took the V8S from Sunny Brighton to sunny Margate with the hood down all the way. Even though most of it was on the motorway it's still great to listen to that rumbling burble with the occasional angry roar when she's opened up!

First longish journey I've done in it since buying it in July and she didn't skip a beat...no overheating , nothing , just perfectly behaved, which is reassuring as when the roads were clear it was driven quite enthusiastically! Testament to the previous owners TLC. (Cheers Harry. How's the new Cerb project going?)

Just thought I'd share the pleasantries of my day with those of you who were inside sweating the whole time... Ha Ha!

Aaarghh, recently took mine off the road to do a few jobs, body lift etc. I should be hooning around in mine. especially as we are blessed with tunnels in South Wales.

Good to see you using the car Stephen, to be honest on a motorway she is a very nice comfortable drive, you'd never know it from the way you can throw it about on the twisties it never misses a beat either (touches wood). Three trips to LeMans at silly speeds ar a testament to that. As I said before the only let downs in over 4 years was a snapped rotor arm and a failed trailing arm.
Talking of going to margate (margit if you're from sauth londan ) with it, I've done that journey few times in it (mum moved out to birchington) it's a little further from here too. That new(ish) dual 299 I think for the last 20 miles begs to be done at speed too, nice stretch of road ..........

Cerb is coming along fine, big brakes on, suspension done, the engine has been delayed for varying reasons but should be ready next week or so.
I'm off up to the open day on Sunday and it wil be the first time I've seen the car properly since the end of June , are you popping up

Car is certainly being used Harry. Finally got to the bottom of the hose leak which kept reappearing... turned out to be a popped solder joint to the top hose rad spigot. Local welder sorted it for £15 and not a drop out of it since.

I would agree, given the go-kart like handling she's surprisingly civilised on the motorway. I thought I'd be wrestling with the steering to keep her on the straight and narrow each time I hit a bump, but not at all. Which reminds me.. the Chim I used to have tended to wander all over the place above 80 mph. Probably something wrong with the steering geometry.

Good road to Margate. M26 was my favourite this week as it was completely empty eastbound which gave me my first chance to open her up properly. Suffice to say if you add up what you spent on her during your stewardship and divided it by ten you would be at just under the speed she was (happily) running at! The shame was I had to back off as there was traffic ahead and obviously safety takes precedent when there are other road users about. I trust I can count upon your discretion here Harry.

I'm playing cricket on Sunday afternoon near Eastbourne but if the day starts fairly early then I'll be up for a meet at Austec. Do you know what time proceedings commence?

Sounds like the Cerb has taken a bit longer than you'd hoped. Still best to be patient and ensure it's well worth the wait! You must be chomping at the bit to get her on the road!!

Good to hear you're using the car, been there before, not that it was cars in the way just no more revs left .
Hope to be up at Austec around 12 ariving with the hants lot, should be there for a couple of hours.
