Tell me i`m doing the right thing
Discussion
For too many years i`ve dreamt of TVR ownership,so much so have now decided to have some fun and buy a decent S. Sourcing one threw up this site and the name Rob Ingleby, so, with added inspiration from you guys on the S Forum i`ve asked Rob to deal for me.
From a new boy to the site i want to say thanks for the added inspiration, here`s hoping the wait won`t be too long and someone please just tell me i`m doing the right thing?

I think a V6 S is the ideal first TVR because it's got enough performance to be great fun, but the handling is predictable and the lower power levels make it far easier and more forgiving to get to grips with. The S series is very solidly built and has very forgiving handling, but go for the latest model you can. If you're buying through Rob I'm sure you'll get one in good condition, which is the other important thing. If (OK, when!) you have mastered the rear wheel drive skills and want more power, you have plenty of choices. Also I found the V6 was a lot cheaper to run than the V8, which helps.
Cheers,

I also was in 2 minds when I started looking for one.
I'd been a passenger in one a few times and wasn't convinced. I had to get behind the wheel before it all clicked into place. First test drive I was terrified (First thing I did was stall it...which didn't help), 2nd time I was a lot more relaxed and floored it..game over. I bought it as soon as I got back, it was a total no brainer.
6 years later and I still can't bring myself to PX it for one of those new fangled TVRs....I think I'm stuck with it forever...the damn thing ooozes character and is quite fast and noisy enough thanks
Good luck with your hunt....you are doing the right thing *honest*

I have just got back from a 50 mile blast in my S1 and still love to bits.
When I bought it 3 years ago I anticipated 'moving up' to a V8S or Griff by now but I dont want to part with it. On the twisty country roads it just feels great and sounds great. I have now got it all sorted and it wont break the bank if anything goes wrong.
When you want to go faster have a driving lesson with Ride Drive.
And yes contact Rob Ingleby and you will be well guided.
Good luck and keep the top down.

ahhem ... everyone told you that you wouldnt rest until you had a V8 under your arse ..... we all knew it would only be a matter of time before the V6 went ...
