The ultimate cad's TVR for sale?
Discussion
Taken from Cheffins Auctioneers catalogue www.cheffins.co.uk/vintage_auctions/index.htm
"This particular S2 was supplied new to Major James Lifford Hewitt by TVR dealer Devonshire Car Specialists. First registered on 15th November 1989, it was to remain in Hewitt's position until 17th March 1994. An accompanying photocopied extract from Dempster's People: Inside The World Of The Gossip's Gossip by Nigel Dempster chronicles the TVR entering Highgrove at the time of Hewitt's affair with Princess Diana.
While another snippet taken from Hewitt's own book Love and War mentions it being driven back from Germany immediately following the end of the Gulf War for a rendezvous with Paul Burrell. Now with its third keeper, it is described as being in good to very good condition. The subject of an engine and chassis refurbishment in 1996, it is finished in its original British Racing Green with half leather and cloth upholstery. Last serviced on 31st January 2003 at a mileage of 35,691, it is fitted with a stainless steel sports exhaust. Offered for sale with fully stamped service record, large history file and MOT current until 22nd July 2003, is this ultimate cad's car?
Estimate: £7,500 - £9,500"
Sale of April 5th

I`ll be there on Thursday, but unfortunately I`ll be in the S. The bidding stopped at £5K.
£5K!!!! I couldn`t believe it. It`s not the best S in the world but nor is it the worst, and a history like that has surely got to be worth something.
I don`t know what to do now- Maybe Coys (another auctioneers) to see what they say, or even ebay, or maybe give up on the whole J.H. thing and put it on here and in sprint.
Any advice, experience or opinions would be very helpful.

IMHO I think the car should be worth advertising in its own right, rather than the personal history of its previous owners.
If I were still looking for one, if anything I might be put off by the ad. Now if it had been owned by someone I was reasonably confident may have looked after the car, maybe I'd have been more interested. Thats a shame as it looks quite nice..
Edited to add: More interested in the car than the owners..
