Near miss....

I got the old girl out for a bit of a blast yesterday. Heading out towards Bridgnorth in Shropshire from Stourbridge there's a great stretch of straight country road that just goes on and on...a good overtaking stretch...I had a vauxhall calibre tailgating me to get past the inevitable slow moving nissan micra....I dropped from 5th to 4th checked my mirrors and readied for a quick pass..just about to go..when whoosh.. another vauxhall vectra appeared from the blue and passed the lot of us.
I dropped back into follow mode as I realised another second earlier I would have moved into this persons charge for the front of the convoy.....They would have clipped me and sent me spinning...thru hedges into fields maybe upside down and without a roll bar i would have been a dead man....sometimes I just think maybe I should just sell this TVR...

Know the road well Paul...close! at least your mirrors work, cant see fek all in my s2 jobbies!

just put new mirrors on mine for this very reason, i have an S2 but it was spec'd with elec mirrors so they put the big square Tasmin mirrors on it & i never thougt they were right. Then they went all wobbly & couldnt be tightened...... i was always worried about side swiping someone, so ive changed em

Hello Giles I also have the Tasmin style and they also need constant tightening, which mirrors did you put on your car.

Getting rid of the standard useless S2 mirrors and replacing them with Audi TT ones (complete with "overtaker" bit in the drivers glass) is probably the best mod I've done to the car, from both functional and appearance viewpoints.
Also planning on going to the Nurburgring next year - probably need good mirrors there!!

i too know the road, bad area on wednesday nights due to all the bikers going to the Wheel pub at Worfield, lots of plod ;-)
Totally agree re mirrors too, my S2 ones drop down like droopy spaniels ears over bumpy roads....
