Just got back from RT Racing - where I was told I needed to replace all the front bushes and that it would be wise to fit new shocks. Apparently Koni (usually the original supplier of shocks for the S cars) have gone on record saying that after only 25,000 miles the shocks are likely to be shot

He recommended RedLine shocks all round but did suggest the springs may well be O.K. - obviously needs to get them off the car before he can tell.

Shocks, Poly bushes and labour £950 - don't you just love these TVR's. Can someone please tell me that I will notice the difference - A LOT.

Bank manager one behind me in the queue for a pacemaker.

Go for the bush change, - just had mine done at Peninsula, and what a difference!

I had noticed that the steering was 'loading up' in corners more than I felt it should, particularly long fast corners. I spoke to Richard Smith about it and he advised replacing the bushes. The difference was immediately noticeable, and the car feels much more precise and 'pointy' than it did before.

Cheers

I am thinking about shocks/springs and bushes as well. Do the polly bushes give a harder ride? Steve Reid is quoting £65 each for AVOs - this sounds very reasonable - any experience of these?

Still in the process of setting up my RT Racing redline shocks/springs. I put new springs/shocks on the front of my S2 at the beginning of last year, what a revalation! the difference especially on track days was more than just noticable.

A year on and I have recieved my new rears. Just cannot wait to get the car set up right for this years track days.

If you are going to do it do them all at once, i wish i had, you will notice a differance believe me and dont be affraid of adjusting the shock absorbers (to within 25% each side of their maximum adjustment).

The only thing thats still not right with mine is the spring stiffness (see suspension set up thread) 250lb was too soft for the rears as supplied. Im still trying to find out what everyone else has got on theirs but no one wants to own up.

Good luck.

£950 sounds a bit steep. I had LEDA fully adjustable shocks AND springs fitted by LEDA for less than that and they corner weighted the car for me as well! That was seriously uprated suspension as well which was bespoke for me to go sprinting, track days, etc.
I would shop around before you commit to anyone.

I bet they didn't change all the bushes as well with poly ones. The £950 includes that!

Well, I think so the full set of front bushes cost £130 and the £950 does include fitting of them all - do you think its a reasonable price - the shocks are £95 each - they are the ones in RT's catalogue.

£825 for full dampers & springs, cornerweighted and all done within 3 hours.
If LEDA were to have charged say, £100 for four springs that would be a difference of £225 which would cover every bush on the car with about £100 left over! Don't forget that these weren't your normal road dampers either. The spec I had was the same as for a competition use only 'C' type Jaguar with uprated adjustable valves.
My point is that it doesn't hurt to shop around.

I had my S2 kitted with Redlines from RT racing last year and also had polybushes fitted to some areas where the rubber ones had gone and I have to say it made an immense difference to the car. Made it sound less like an old bus rattling, and much more stable on bumpy surfaces. Theye are also rebuildable so you only have to buy them once and just have them 'serviced' when they get old, or so I believe, correct me if I`m wrong.

I am interested to know how you have set your shockers 'taffstalini'. How many 'clicks' from max I would also be interested to know how you decide to go with your spring rates.
