I'm off 'Up North' for the weekend and am going to buy carpet from Coverdale Carpets. I need to know how much to buy (am planning to re-carpet the S2 myself as have been quoted over £800 locally!!). I have been told 8 metres but this seems like an awful lot of carpet.
Has anyone done this that might know how much to buy?
Cheers

Simon, unfortunately I don't know how much is required.
But I would appreciate further info on Coverdale Carpets as I am currently looking in to re upholstering my S2 at the moment.
The cheapest quote I have had so far £550 + Vat fitted
(MATRIM - Sprint).
The only thing stopping me just going out and buying some carpet and cutting to size my self is the small question of re trimming the edges with the leather strip.

I am taking the footwell, parcel shelf and rear section with me & they will use them as patterns to make new sections and bind the edges. Apart from those pieces virtually everything else is non-bound & should be fairly easy to fit.
not sure on price yet but as a guide my old man got a full set for his MGA for £85. They quote most open 2 seaters at around £120 for hessian backed and £160 for wool.
Unfortunately they don't have patterns for an S but if somebody got a car to them I'm sure that they would make patterns & we would all have a cheap source of carpet sets. I don't fancy driving the S to Wigan so am taking the home made route.

dont waste your time going all that way. i recently had my griff fully recarpeted by a local guy i know in baldock herts at the cost of £270 all in. you are reading this right it was £270. he did a fantastic job and it included all the piping as well. if you want his number, email me and i will be more than happy to supply his details and save you quite a bit of dosh.

I live abut 45 mins from Wigan so would be more than willing to let them use my car to make the pattern !
Can you let me know their telphone number so that I can contact them to discuss.
Thanks,
I ve just been looking at their WebSite, they are actually nearer to Bolton than Wigan and are actually only a 10 minute drive from Work !!
I'll have a spin over next week to see what they say.
P.S.
I have just E-Mailed tham to ask if they would consider making a pattern for the S series if I left my car with them.
I'll keep you posted.
