Hi all, after Sunday spent performing gymnastics under the bonnet of my S3, I've reached a bit of an impass.

Can anyone describe how the spot lights are fixed into the recesses on an S3C style bonnet? Siezed nuts notwithstanding (the car, not mine ;-), some clues as to how to get them out without removing all the skin from my knuckles would be greatly appreciated...

mike, when i replaced mine i thought there was just a single nut at either the top or bottom of the light.
I remember it was quite simple! you have to remove the inner wheel arches to get at them.

Yep, sort of in the bible regarding 'there is a fixing bolt and an adjusting screw' BUT! (ain't there always a but!)

The Nut (which I can get to) is rusted and can just about be moved however the head of the bolt (which I can't get to) is spinning freely. Lots of grazed knuckles and bad language later (the little lad next door is going to give his teacher a shock when he asks her what those words mean!)I've managed to get the nut to the end of the bolt and it looks like a job for super dremel cutter...I was just wondering if I've missed something obvious...a hidden panel perhaps, trapdoor etc etc

Any suggestions please, also does the S3 have its own fitting into which one 'clips in' the new light lens/body or does it use the standard one that comes with the replacement light?

Mike, I replaced my spots when I rebuilt the front of my V8S. There is indeed just one bolt and nut to contend with & I choose my words carefully. I had the bonnet off when I did mine - the new ones were a right b*astard to get back on too! Good luck!

Drive over the new speed bumps in my work's car park

Sorry, not helpful I know.. Will be taking a look this weekend and can report in if thats not too late. I've fog lamps fitted and I think by changing the reflectors I can convert them to driving lamps, (far more useful to see where I'm aiming the car)..
