Front indicator lenses....

Hi

Like most other Ss I have a cracked front indicator glass; I've seen previous threads about how they come off a Sherpa van but that you can't get any for love nor money. Is there any truth in the rumour that indicators from a Kia Pride fit, and if so is there any modification needed?

Yes they fit, minimum mods necessary

Main problem I had is that the Kia ones don't hold down the edge of the rubber bumper trim so can leave an unsightly gap unless you trim the rubber very carefully

Interesting to know how much the Kia ones are. the sherpa ones are £5 each I believe from www.autofast.co.uk

Autofast don't stock them any more. I don't think anybody does - they are now a discontinued line.

The Kia ones are £3.94 inc VAT IIRC.

Ps anyone know where I can get a Lamp holder from for the sherpa housing ,one of mine is knackered.

I cant understand why nobody else can find sherpa indicator units?
Only a year ago I just typed in LDV Sherpa into Google search and found a dozen places who sold them.
Just found the best price and went for them. Took only about 30 mins to find and order, arrived the next week.

Have you tried this method?

Because they have been discontinued. How many Sherpa vans are still on the road?

Just wait till you see how much any new sherpa indicators that are left cost...

My car wears the Kia indicators. I've put some silicone sealant around the lens to stop moisture getting in the lamp housing. Not sure if this was necessary, but easy enough to do.

What we need is someone (TVRCarParts???) to manufacture some new bumper trim so the Kia ones fit better.

...or LeeBee could make some in Aluminium

my indicator Lenses were in poor condition when I got my car but I could see that it was the flange around the lens that was broken in places giving it a raggy edge and poor appearance. So I removed the flange all round back to a regular shape (I managed to retain one side flange on each so the fit to the bumper trim was OK) Have a look at My Photo Album at the "Jumanji" pic.. they are not fixed in place yet but you can see what I mean.Perhaps yours can be fixed in the same way ?
