lsd diff

will an lsd diff from an xr4 fit an s1, i know a 2wd drive cosworth does but is the xr4 the same? any thoughts

Probably not - the 4x4 is a 7" diff and the S (well my S3 anyway) has a 7.5" diff. The easy way to tell is the top mounting on the 7" has a long bolt right the way through bit the 7.5" has threaded holes and therefore a bolt from each side.

Now someone will come along and say that their car is fitted with a 7" diff...

Hi, Jed is right my S2 also has a 7.5 inch diff. Be careful where you buy it from though, just got one on ebay and the guy promised it was an lsd but when i got it and we opened it to check the condition we realised it wasnt, i lost 220 quid, so make sure what you get is an lsd by checking it first

Interesting. Mine is going for a check next week as the transmission has become a bit too noisy.

Is the 2wd Cosworth Sierra diff a 7,5 in unit then?
If its going to be replaced it might as well be a LSD type.

Well the guy who sold me the 'lsd diff' said it was from a 2wd cosworth sierra, but it turned out it wasnt. From what i found out, not all sierra cosworths had lsd
