Question about new Wheels

Hi all.
All being well I shall be putting some 17" wheels on my V8S at the weekend. I've bought some BK 299's which I think suit the S well. I've seen previous threads about offsets and was pleasantly surprised to find that The new wheels which have an offset of 38mm seem to fit perfectly flush with the the same plane as the wheel arches.
I believe Pies suggested this would be the case some time ago.
Anyway, my question is does anyone know the size of the spigot location rings which go into the wheel around the hub? ( not sure if that is the correct term ). Also, are these strictly necessary? I assume they are there for a reason. It has been suggested to me that the hub on a V8S is a standard Ford fitment of approx' 63mm. Anyone out there know if this is right?

. Toyed with the idea of changing the wheels for years, always felt matt black ones would suit it myself

The hub is imperial. It's a standard Ford 3" square 4-stud hub usually referred to as a "108mm PCD". From memory the central boss is 2.5" diameter, but it's a standard size and a nice round number of inches whatever it is.
Why thank you chaps - they came with the car, I think they are 17" Racehart I did get the original OZ's as well and switched between both until deciding to keep these on, must say I have only ever had positive comments on them which is great - Mr Stephen Pooke - maybe we should let the PHers vote which look the best once you get your photos up would be interesting to see what the consensus was !!!!!!

An excellent idea. My only fear is that most PHer's will not share quite such a taste for the aesthetically appaling as myself!... but you never know.
I'm surprised there are not more S's with 17's fitted as they do look great and it's such a relatively straightforward swap.

Ha Ha - It sounds like you are worried already Steve !!!!
I agree the 17's do look better in my opinion and do give better ground clearance however having tried both the 15s and 17s you do loose a lot of comfort in the ride on the 17s I also wonder sometimes if mine is looking like it is sitting a little high at the back but I think a set of Gaz adjustables all round may help in the near future - get your piccies up as soon as you can mate.
