Earthing on Battery

As I'm going to be fitting an amp and amplified aerial in the boot I can wire the power directly from the battery, but for the earth connection, should I wire it to the negative terminal, or would an earth point in the boot somewhere (is there one) be a better bet?

there are bolts under the carpet in the boot straight to the chassis if that would do?

i agree, earth it in the boot

I fancy doing some audio work - I have 2 6x9's & 2 small door speakers (cheap) with a 2x100 pioneer amp on the 6x9's which works well but.....

In my garage (taken from another car) i have a set of 4 MB Quart component speakers 6" and a 10" kicker sub with amp...... i'm so tempted to get them into the S2

Defintely fit the MB Quart components if nothing else as the quality of them is amazing, although placing the tweeters might be a pain, as it'll involve making holes somewhere. I've got for 16" two-ways instead, as I didn't want to start cutting up anything.

I was considering a 10" sub for my last S alongside two 6x9s (Have both in the garage), alas the new S had the holes cut for the 6x9s and there isn't enough space for a 10" inbetween them.

Can't imagine that you'd get a good earth from the bolt under the boot carpet, at least you wouldn't on my one. It goes through the fibreglass, a sandwich of rubber pads and then to a subframe which is powder coated (or rusty). The subframe itself is not a good earth because of the way it attaches to the chassis, powdercoat, paint etc.

There is a dedicated earth point under the n/s wheel arch, wires from that lead into the boot, might be better to use that one.
