Non starting V8s

I Have a small problem i have just rebuilt my v8s after a body off restoration and im having problems starting the car with start and die after 1-2 seconds, however if i unplug the airflow meter the car starts and runs albiet a bit rich. i can plug the airflow meter back in and it still runs, switch off and restart and dies after 1-2 seconds.i have tried a replacment working airflow meter,cleaned the air bypass valve,set the throtle pot and airflow meter. has anybody any ideas.could the water temp sender be causing overfueling? duff air bypass valve?

after the initial start up, could the fuel pump be switching itself off after start circuit has changed from start mode to running mode ?

does engine cut dead or run out of fuel spluttering to a hault ?

You could have look over on the Wedges forum, there are loads of threads covering V8 starting problems!

But yes, the coolant temp sensor could be playing silly bu99ers. I assume the V8S is a hotwire setup? One thing that could be causing problems as you mention having the body off... are you sure you've got good earths between engine, chassis and wiring looms (especially the injection loom to engine)?
